Some teens go to Europe to party. Kat Barrett goes because she received a letter from her dead father. It’s not a message from the “other side,” and despite the letter’s origins (Romania) it doesn’t involve vampires.
At eighteen, with a half-ton backpack and a budget thinner than a shoestring, Kat sets out for Eastern Europe to fulfill her father’s dying wish: find and claim the family inheritance. There’s just one problem. The fortune’s hidden near a village protected by a minefield, and Kat’s not the only person willing to risk life and limb to find it.
In GYPSY, Kat must unravel the truth about her dad’s clandestine Gypsy family, survive the landmines surrounding her inheritance, and outrun a Romanian crime syndicate that wants to kill her and steal the fortune. As if that’s not enough, she’s managed to stumble into a final problem: she's fallen for her guide and translator, a guy whose cousin turns out to be the very crime boss plotting to ship her home in a body bag.
